Most kids can start around age 4. Our Lil Ninja program is designed specifically for young kids who need structure, emotional intelligence, listening & social skills, and confidence.

  • Is martial arts good for confidence?

Yes. Budo's Mixed Martial arts builds confidence through training hard consistently, constantly getting results and accomplishing new goals. Kids learn skills, earn their clout & belief in themselves, overcome fear & understand emotions, and start trusting & respecting in themselves.

  • Can martial arts help with bullying?

Absolutely. Bullies target kids who look unsure. Martial arts builds posture, awareness, and confidence, which makes kids far less likely to be targeted. What make Budo's self defense & bully proof program so effective is the program is based on Tony Blauer's SPEAR System, with over 4 decades worth of research on human behaviour, voilence, safety, movement, etc... The system is built on our natural responses to danger, and how to use our natural responses to get to a better place of safety.

  • Is martial arts good for ADHD?

Many parents see major improvements. Martial arts teaches focus, discipline, repetition, and listening skills in a structured environment.  We believe ADHD is a byproduct of overdosing on screens and games.  Creating a void and anxiety.  At Budo kids learn that being bored, or anxious is normal and can be controlled healthier through breathing, movement, fitness, eating healthy and well and surrounding yourself with positive thinkers and doers.   Budo Full Range Martial Arts has been referred by professional Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and Doctors for the past 24 years.

  • Does my child need to be athletic?

No. Martial arts is designed to build athleticism over time. This is one of the reasons why parents bring their kids to Budo, so they can progressively experience fitness, movement and contact in a controlled environment. Every child starts & progresses at their own pace.

  • Is martial arts safe?

Yes, when run with a qualified coach that cares for your growth and development.  However, we believe in "Safety 3rd", not "Safety 1st"... Our classes are structured, supervised, and designed to have students experience fear, anxiety, aggression, losses, wins, etc... in a relatively safe, ultimately supportive coaching environment. Students learn control before intensity, but they will experience intensity, and prepare for scary situations and violence. We believe that in order to truly prepare for worst case scenarios, kids need to have a specific training model to experience these scenarios as close as possinle, Safely.
